I doubt if they have a cat seeing as how cat is out of the truck engine business. Probably a cummins or a detroit. They are aimed more at O/O's but the chrome on them is anything but from what I've heard. It's a cheap chrome finish on palstic I've heard. I think the look kinda cool to but alot of drivers don't...personal preference I guess.

Ugly truck.
id rather drive a single stack Mack. -
I do not like MAN D28/Maxxforce engine. It is common rail engine controlled with Bosch MS7. It is fuel sencetive, and cold sencetive. All the hight pressure fuel system is outside the engine, and when it is really cold fuel is like a gel and we had to spill hot water on filters, rail pressure valve, pump to start it!
Engine calibration is not the optimal (IMO). Low end torq. is electronically limited so when you start it seems to you that engine is gutless, but at 1300 rpm engine pulls the truck well. The good thing, that this engine is fuel efficient! Really good fuel milage. about 30 l/100 km with 20 ton in trailer.
so this truck is contradictory thing.
well, CRD technology is concidered of future diesel technology. IMO, all other systems, like ingection pumps, Pump injector units, PLD, HPI will dissapeare soon, despite they are more reliable.
CRD is more accurate, more fuel efficient and more envirement frendly.
CRD engines are not Ugly Ducklings now like they were ten years ago, but not so booletproof like old style engines. Do you remember your first opinion about PLD and Pump unit engines? we considered them complicated and we were disapointed if something failed and we did nothing how to fix! With new CRD engines the situation is the same -
Lonestar=Cheap plastic crap! It's just a Prostar with an ugly hood! The Prostars are JUNK so why would the Lonestar be any better?
-
If it wasn't so much plastic chrome I would like to have one. I don't like all the plastic chrome. I love the look, but don't like the plastic.
-
It's a matter of taste I suppose...But they want $140,000 for that thing! It's a very cheaply built plastic truck and they have the audacity to think it's worth $140,000?
I'd rather drive a Peterbilt! I don't like Peterbilts but at least they're PACCAR trucks which means they'll last for YEARS!
I seriously doubt that you'll see many 10 year old Lonestars doing anything but hauling containers out of the ports with all of the plastic crap being held together with bungies and duct tape... -
let me disagree. There are plastic parts more tought and reliable then steel. I see early Mercedes Actros trucks with made of plastic front end. No rust, no cracks, easy to repare after accident with polyether.
about steel parts. Who ever tried to rise hood of Scania conventional truck!??? it is so heavy! if it falls it may easily kill you!
Well, why is it so much plastic chrome immitation? Seems to me they want truck look more expencive it worth and sell for more $$$.
well, I do not like pastic with cheap chrom finish. Palstik must not look like a methal! Whom for this cheap immitation? -
I looked at 2 at Hill International awhile back. They both had big runs in the paint on the frame rails and in other places they were starting to rust, brand new! Not worth the price of admission if you ask me.
