    So im driving a prostar now and have a couple questions for those who drive them and know them well.

    1) can you turn off the anti idle or is it like the stupid volvo where you just have to wait 5min and hit the gas? I tried setting cruise/throttle that a driver mentioned but that did nothing

    2) do these things suck up more fuel than the volvo? seems idling im sucking up fuel quicker, of course without an AC in the volvo I didnt idle a lot

    3) I heard its harder to scale with these internationals and that the steers are normally heavier too, is this true and if so what is the max weight I should accept on a load and still be able to scale it out ok?

    The driver who had this truck actually left the manuals so I have been reading them over but if I come across another question I will ask.

    pull the trailer brake and let the tractor brake in see if its going to stay running if not you have to wait until 5 minutes to hit the gas, i don't think the international suck up more fuel than the volvo. i agree when they say the steers are heavier i accept 46 000 ibs with my last international and my steers was 11800ibs/

    Steers heavy for sure.
    I like never fully fueled.
    Heavy loads can put you over on the steers.
    Plan ahead to next mt, and shoot for 5/8 tank.
    Every gallon of fuel equals about 5 lbs on steers.

    ok sounds good, im going to drive over the scale bobtailed before I leave shortly just to get an idea what the truck weighs without a trailer and a half tank fuel

    The 13's with the MaxxForce are much lighter up front. So really depends on the year and engine. Roll over a scale each time you are at a terminal to get a better feel... I could usually guess the weight by the way it feels after a few weeks!

    Put the 5th wheel in the 5 and 6 holes and you'll never be over 11,900.

    Idle shut down override:
    Ignore the nanny (QC) yammering and watch for the "idle shut down" warning on the left of the idiot light cluster then clutch to the floor. I burn 0.4 gph in my 2011 Prostar and did the same in my 2010 company truck. I pay about $1.30 net for fuel so I idle as much as necessary to stay comfortable. I also average over 8mpg so I consider idle fuel a worthwhile indulgence.

    Smaller tanks then Volvo hell my 780 has bigger tanks then the junk pro star
