I would like to buy a stick you plug into your USB port in the lap top to get internet access wherever I am. I have a MacBookPro. Bell offers U998, Rogers has ZTE MF668 Rocket Stick. I had bad experience with Telus. If you have something that works on the road, please let me know. Salespeople will be happy to tell how wonderful the service is, but the coverage, reliability and support may not be there. I would appreciate your advice as I am starting a new job as a truck driver in January. Thank you.

If your driving otr beware rogers as it has no coverage agreements in manitoba or saskatchewan. Some places if your off tc or not in a major city it is hundreds of kilometers between cell towers

My buddy with rogers hates it in saskatchewan and manitoba. Your right about no coverage. I'm with bell for my phone and I get coverage just about anywhere.
-
when i was with rogers, i had no major problems with service in the major centers of sk and mb. the problems were between winnipeg to t-bay and up hiway 11 to north bay. had service in cochrane and some times in hearst, thats it. won't give rogers a penny of my worst enemy's money.

Thank you for your comments. I have just realized that Bell offers a newer stick U547. If anyone had any experience with it, please let me know.

I can't help much there as I have my laptop tethered to my iPhone with PDA.net . Since I only go between sask and man sasktel unlimited works fine for me
Might want to look at koodoo as well as they have a popular unlimited roaming and l/d plan that's popular -
I have a Macbook and bought a 998 Turbo Stick from Bell a year ago. It wouldn't load properly and after two calls to the folks at Bell they informed me that the stick didn't support my leopard 10.6 operating system. I took it back, no problem. They had things updated shortly after that, but I never bothered getting another Turbo Stick. I would advise that you confirm your operating system will work with your stick. In fact, take your computer to the store with you and have them load it for you just to be safe. Bell is slow doing upgrades with Apple operating systems.
A friend of mine has a Turbo Stick, and it works very well on his PC where ever he goes.
I have a company Blackberry that is with Rogers. I don't get ANY service between the Soo and Thunder Bay. My personal Bell phone works though. -
My laptop won't even work with Windows 7 unless I upgrade.

Thank you for all your replies. I have purchased turbo stick U547 (which was released about a year after U998. So far it works great with my Mac BookPro with OS 10.6.8 in Alberta. Only once I had blue/red flashing light. In the trouble shooting portion of the manual they suggest one contacts support. Actually I was quite impressed, it was in the middle of the night and they do have 24/7 support. All I had to do was to shut down the computer, take the stick out, turn the computer back on and plug the stick in. It worked fine after that. I will keep you posted how it works in other parts of Canada.
