Darn, I’d probably still try it but none of my service addresses qualify. The price isn’t too expensive to test out, I’ve paid more than $50 for bricks before. ATT used to have an unlimited prepaid tablet plan; people were sim swapping into hotspots for years until they cracked down on it.

Everything I need is built into my Laptop. I use Verizon , and it just in literally years , has knocked me offline just a handful of times. , and it was most likely something I did. Or when I am somewhere like Glamis Sand Dunes , then it gets iffy because a million people is on their phones and there is nothing but sand ...with maybe one tower and Im not even sure it is a cell tower.
I tell Dell what I want , and they build it for me. All I ever have to do is make sure its charged, or plugged in. after I pay for the laptop , I pay cell service to Verizon.

When you say 2mbps is that what my i5 core is but i5 not 2? FCC did us all a bad turn on service but i am sure everyone knows that.
I will tell you what ive got and i am sure you know more than me. It is a Dell Latitude. says on the back ...(ive got a tough case on it ,
A little sticker on the inside .....intel core i5 vpro inside......
All I have to do is think of gps ...if anyone wants us , they can find us in a split second. In fact a spot or find me , I forget which told a friend the exact parking spot i was in .a thousand miles away....and that tells me we can get a signal anywhere. I know we can because my company builds earth stations (satellite dish farms), just so the world can stay connected. But I like cell !Verizon is the best even though I don't like Verizon anymore. ( they ruined Yahoo when they bought it , I don't believe the DirectTV / AT+T merger is going to do much for us. I am not buying their stock...I am betting on Satellite phones :)
Verizon will lose once in a while to a big mountain. They ( all of the company's for cell) need to build more of those towers that look like a new tree. LOL..that is all we need and it isn't like they don't have the money.

2mbps is the speed at which you can download things, i5 is your proccessor 2 different things. 2mbps is ####ty speeds ive gotten as much as 200mbps on verizons cell network. on 2mbps or less you cant do things such as watch netflix and can barely use the internet

Been testing the Starlink service, its pretty good, its now out of beta and anyone can order. If you click on the map at the website from Texas west seems like everyone can get it, but its spotty east of Texas approx.

Latency and packet loss isn't horrible and I haven't played any games on it yet, I normally, when I can play Gears of War, but its been awhile.

I had Verizon, worked great until they cap you at the data limit then it just gets you mad. Done with VZ

Starlink has no data cap, and I'm diggin it. Movies, streaming service of any kind, its perfect.

Also some RV'ers are saying they have "roaming" capability, so they can connect anywhere, and from what I am hearing this is going to go live for everyone soon.

If your interested might check into it, get on the list etc.

This is the wrong screenshot then I wanted to post but I actually deleted that one and saved this one but you get the idea.

there is a long wait list to get starlink. verizon has a true unlimited cell phone plan now. no throttling when you hit a data limit

If you are in the lighter green then there is o waiting list. the darker green is sketchy right now per Starlink.

I already cancelled one location and got a new dish with service in a week. Its no longer in Beta, its live.

Click the "pin" top left at Starlink.com and you can see the map and you can also put in your address and it will tell you if its available or not.

I have nothing against VZ but you need to be close to a cell tower for decent speeds from my experience anyways.

They do? For only a phone or will it work for a stand alone hotspot too?

Is it just me or is that a rather odd map of coverage… for satellites??? I mean I understand if the can’t cover an area but I would not envision that spotty map. Just seems odd.
