Hello guys i am starting training here soon and doing research. I've got most things figured out with going over the road. Im just hung up on the Internet situation for drivers. I know most every restaurant and store now has free wifi plus the truckstops also. My company goes through ta and loves. What would you guys recommend for Internet? I know id just stick to data for really important stuff like for instance banking

Most Truckstops don't have free WiFi.

ATT or Verizon with Unlimited Data.

Actually, I can speak on Pilots and J's because that's all we use and I rarely stop at other truck stops. They have a free wifi network that's mostly limited to the inside building area. This wifi is limited, though ... No app updates, no youtube, and other site access restrictions.

The PFJ "premium Internet" is pretty good and reasonably priced. But I understand you will mostly be frequenting Petro/TA and Loves and I can't offer much help there, sorry.

If quality internet access is very important to you, and you find Loves and TA's is hit and miss and/or costly, then you'll have to break down and buy some sort of cellular data plan. Lots of changes going on with cell carriers regarding data recently, so research all your options well and make sure you can "hotspot" the data if you'll be bringing along a laptop.

If you want the best coverage go with Verizon.
It is costly, and there are still areas that you will be roaming with very little speed.

I have T-Mobile because it is much cheaper. The downside is less coverage in many areas.

The cost difference is pretty big.
Verizon will cost you around $140 per month for a 20GB plan, but I think now they have unlimited for $160.
My T-Mobile 20GB plan costs me $40 per month. (There are some caveats to it, like using 4 5GB lines and switching the SIM cards in the device as they fill up.)

I know t mobile is cheaper, right now im with at&t. For 4 lines its like 320. Unfortunately 2 of the people with lines on the plan struggle to pay it. So me and my brother have to pay their portion otherwise we lose the phones

    One word of caution.
Public WiFi is not secure. Use your phone or a telco hotspot when doing financial dealings on the internet.

Keep in mind that "unlimited data" doesn't necessarily mean unlimited data if you use the phone as a hotspot for a laptop or tablet. Be sure to get this clarified BEFORE you sign anything.
