Started orientation today with Interstate. They are very professional in thier presentation and they do not tolerate log violations as I was informed by my trainer. They said they let about 20 drivers go because of log violations even after giving them notice to do better. We just touched on the logging today and it's pretty straight forward. I will be driving tomorrow and practicing on my backing. Also there were a few rehires in my group, and they said they wish they hadn't left the company. That says allot about a company when drivers come back.

I did a lot of backing today and it was very informative. We didn't do 90 degree in school. I did so-so, the trainers are excellent, they will let you do everything once then give you a few tips. They couple and uncouple trailers different than I was taught. They let the air out of their airbags to lift and lower the trailers. Everybody I've talked to and watched are very friendly and will answer any question you have. This place is real nice and the automatic trucks will spoil you.Well more of the same tomorrow.:biggrin_25519:

    Hey Lockehmmr
Hows orientation going out there? We are in school now with Sage in SLC, and looking to go to Interestate in Nov. I would think orientation would be similar between Tacoma and there.
Hope all is going well, keep us filled in.
    Cheers

I was out shopping today and saw an Interstate truck parked at Pier One unloading. I swooped in grabbed my chance to talk to him. I think he thought I was a lot lizard. I came up to the truck and said, excuse me do you have a minute? He said, NO!!! Then he said, Why what do you want??

Lol.... after he realized I just wanted to see his truck and talked to him he turned out to be real nice. What a nice truck!!@ I have been wanting to see the inside of one of those for about two months. Roomy. Said the volvo's are even bigger then his.

btw... he told me he screwed with his logs all the time. Said he was driving 16,000/month until they caught him! Didnt fire him tho.. they put him on local delivery and salary :biggrin_2559:
