Yeah, you better believe that's interesting. I'd like to know how all those trucks can be sitting as well. Idle trucks don't bring in income, and when close to 25% are sitting at a company, one starts to wonder if the government is giving these outfits welfare (tax breaks) for all those sitting rigs. The companies almost have to be getting some kind of relief, given those trucks have fixed costs that have to be covered by the low profits brought home by the remaining fleet.

Something is definitely going on when a company can stay in business with a quarter of its rigs sitting around for days or even weeks on end.

 

It would make sense for Interstate to start pushing a LEASE.... that way there trucks can make money and the payments would be made..... Alot of these big companies start pushing Lease to company drivers and others........!!! My own opinion... Im just a company driver.. Drive Safe!

 

I dont think I have ever seen more whining crybabies as I have seen on this board. I spent 5 years with IDC as an O/O. They never "lost" my paperwork, I never had a problem with the staff, and even though I sat a few times, so did alot of other fleets. It's what you call slow freight!!! It affects everyone. What I see here are probably drivers who whined about hand jiving, wanted to be home every week and generally had a bad attitude overall. If you ended up not scanning your paperwork correctly or sent it via US Mail so that you missed the weekly deadline, that is your own fault. And I'm sure calling to get it straight, with a poor attitude didn't help you.
Whatever your problem was, I think there are a coupla thousand drivers with IDC that would vehemently disagree with you. IDC is a great company to work for.
Whatever companies ended up with you whinebabies, whether it be Swift or CRST, you deserve eachother.


Sorry for the outburst, but I gotta wonder whatever happened to real truck drivers. Seems their numbers are ever shrinking. Sad.

 

Thanks for posting something positive about Interstate, rdcallguy. My teacher can't say enough good things about these guys. But after reading all the bad comments, its making my stomach hurt. I was planning on applying to this company after school. Not sure what the heck to believe. I need to go read the favorite companies link....

 

Glad to hear that Sweeze. Believe me, if you want to make it in this industry, as a driver, alot of it is attitude. And believe me, sometimes it is hard to keep a good one when you drive. There is alot out there to tick a person off. Keep a good attitude, drive safe and do the best you can, and you will do well. Especially if you find the right Company, whether it be IDC or another. I admit, there are Companies that do not treat drivers well, I was with a few. But I can say I gave them all a fair chance. Good Luck!!

 

I drove for Interstate and probably still would be,if it wasn't for a broken back I received.The only reason I would still be there is because of my fllet mngr though,not for the company.This company is the biggest pieces of ####,I have had the misfortune to work for.Yes I got miles and allot of them.I got my hands slapped a few times for not wanting to run in the North East a couple of times.But when it comes to getting injured they suck.

I broke my back in Little rock back in Sept of 2006 and it was pure hell.The doctors made it specific that I was not to be on my feet and they had me at a truck stop every other day getting an advancement for a motel,which came out of my check.They wanted me to sleep in my truck.Can you believe that?I dont want to get into all of the ########,but I will tell you one thing.Do not get hurt with this company.You will be asking for nothing but trouble if you do.Me and my family are about to lose our home and cannot pay our bills.Workers comp quit paying me.Even though a doctor said I need surgery on my back.Yes I have an attorney,but it takes time and time I do not have.

Those dirty sons of #######,I have heard this from many drivers,that it is not wise to get hurt,Along with them going down hill.I have many other horror stories about this ######## company,but it is late and my blood pressure is rising just thinking about them.I am going to do everything possible that I know to do.To get the word out about them and how they treated a driver with a serious injury and do you think they give two #####,Hell no.The only ones who have anything good to say about them is the ### lickers. Maybe I shouldn't say it that way,but I have been around the trucking industry all my life and don't get me wrong,I am still learning,but I do know ### kissers when I see them and this one has allot of them.The new drivers are the one's who get the #### end of the stick.Hell they treat their owner operators better.Orientation is nothing but lies,all lies.

They get some big shot honcho,who knows nothing about the trucking industry in there and he tells you,we hardly have a turn over rate.Our drivers are number one.########!!! Hell they fired me,can you believe that.In May of this year,I get a letter stating I am fired,due to some type of new policies.Aint that a crock of ####.I thought you couldn't get fired,when you got hurt.Oh well more money in my pocket,when this hell is over with.

I would be getting fixxed right now,but hell no!!More waiting and more pain.I am sick of this #### pain.I am sick of all their ########.I am just plain sick.And I owe it all to Interstate DIstributors,BECAUSE THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR DRIVERS!!!!! If they care so much,where's my house payment and where'smy insurance that you all lied to me and said I had none,when I had it.Hell I went 6 months thinking I had no more Aetna,all because they sent me a letter in Oct of 2006 stating I had no insurance,Then in May of 2007,I found out I had it all along.Well there was more pain.I could have gotten my gallbladder taken out,along with my wisdom teeth that are both giving me hell.

I'm telling all you drivers out there,with any sense whatsoever,that this company is not a very driver friendly company.Hell google them and you will see,they fired a guy for being overweight and he won a ****load of money.Now with that and with what you have heard from me.Why would you give them your time,when in time,you will get #### on.Hell I guess that goes for 90% of the companies out there,but this one tops the cake.Sorry for my rambling.If you want to hear more just google clfgnr and you can read more of my story.

 

You were a O/O at IDC, so how would you even know what it is like for a regular company solo driver?

Anyone knows that O/O's, teams and trainers get far better treatment at IDC and many other companies.

I remember seeing and even hearing on several occasions teams and O/O whining at the term about the load they were given becuase it did not have enough miles or was a live load with extra drops on it. All these so called truckers wanted to do was linehual and let some company solo do the p&d on it.

Having a former IDC O/O come on here and complain about whiners? what a joke. They were some of the biggest whiners I saw at that company

 

What you just said is a myth. If I turned down every load because it involved a hand stack or I just plain didn't like the load, I would have gone broke. I had my share of everything people like you whine about. Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about and you are likely not telling the full story. How many loads did YOU refuse because it was hand stack freight or didn't go to where you wanted???
I had a choice of refusing the load or sitting and not making what I was out there to do. Earn a living!! And I did pretty darn decent at IDC!!

 

Amen, rdcalldude!! Hubby and I are currently driving team with IDC, but he was solo before that and seen plenty of miles except for the slow down at Christmas. All I can say is that in order for you all to get such crappy miles and attitudes from dispatch, you must make it a habit to whine and cry about the loads they give you and refuse them. Sure, we have had our share of bad loads and also had some hand unloads.. 1300 floor stack boxes at a Joanne store, BUT the good far outweighs the bad. A little hard work never hurt anybody, but it sure sounds like some of you arent taking your chances. Also.. to unload that truck we were paid $150 .If you are unhappy with your dispatcher, FIRE THEM! Its entirely up to you.. If you cant take personal responsibility for your own demise, then you get what you get.

Regarding the trucks sitting at terminals not moving.... Alot of those are trucks that are being traded back in. I know that not every company is perfect BUT if you think about this thread.. all 4 pages of it.. then go through and read the 10+ pages of the positive stuff plus all the smaller threads on IDC, you will see that this thread is full of an extremely small minority of steering wheel holders on this thread that are unhappy with the company.

And that's all I got to say about that!

Please show me the post were I whined about any loads at IDC. All my posts have been for the most part positive on this company but they like other company's with large team and rent a truck, drivers DO show preferential treatment when it comes to how they deal with teams and lease drivers versus company solo's. I also know that IDC did not pay layover so they have no qualms about letting you sit instead of DH you to the frt. Anyone can go to the 49r t/s on a wknd and see the IDC drivers sitting their twiddling their thumbs. Unlike the team driver who says she was paid $150 to unload a trailer I was never offered more then $60 to do a driver unload and only $35 to unload a full trailer of 75lb Batons of insulation at a construction site. They told me all Owens corning loads are tailgate and not driver unloads.

I have turned down maybe 3 loads in the 14years since I received a CDL but at IDC they had many loads that you would either have to run illegal or have re powered to del on time because they sat around in the yards after being pu by a local driver. I had to make lots of phone calls to keep rolling for the most part or probably would of sat like some others who depended on their poorly trained dpr. But what a pain it is to constantly be asked to do repwrs to keep teams and lease drivers from whining about miles or having to sit because your Costco load was rescheduled because it sat to long on the yard.

For a experienced solo driver I would not recommend IDC unless you want to be used to pacify their high maintenance teams and lease drivers.

I have no bone to pick with IDC I did good while I was their but then I don't allow carriers to waste my time like others seem to. I just tell it like I experianced it. Heck they may be better now since I worked their almost 2 years ago. But I have yet to see a company with a large team and lease divison be a good match for a solo driver unless they did not know any better.
