Interview Wear

At minimum, a button down shirt and blue jeans and boots if possible.. You have to be ready to possibly pre trip and do a driving test.

 

Dont forget the most important item GLOVES.

 

You’re really asking for the jokers on this one. Clown suits, Gorilla suits. I can see them coming.

 

Chain wallet at least 3 foot long, boots and leather jacket.

 

You want to look like someone they will hire.

If your hair is long cut it or make it neat. If you have piercings or any of that kind of nonsense get rid of them and try to make it look like you don't have holes all over your body. If you have tattoos cover them. If you have a beard or mustache shave it or make it look perfectly neat.

You can wear jeans but wear a nice Polo type shirt or even a Dickies work button up shirt would be okay. Make sure your boots are neat and clean also.

Just don't go there with a scraggly beard and clothes that you slept in.

And when you speak, don't use profanity, don't say things like, " I ain't got no", and don't speak in Ebonics or crazy slang.

Present yourself as a professional.

 

If interviewing in the Greater Chicagoland area and its a 1099 position, Then an Addis track suit Must be worn, fingerless gloves and a oversized headset.
Otherwise just dress like your ready to work

 

I've always walked in looking like I was ready to go to work. Jeans, boots, a decent shirt (polo) and work gloves hanging out the back pocket.

 

On a serious note

Polo nothing fancy. Some kakis pants not dickies but something that looks uniformish to work in but presentable. Tuck shirt. Shave. And nice work shoe type. I’d go with black. Sketchers Work shoe 50.00. Nothing fancy cause they drive test you sometimes right then. All can be had at Walmart or Kohl’s for under 10-20 for shirt 25 or less for pants. Or less. I’ve got job offers from my current job McLane, UPSP, USPF, US Foods, Saia, Reddaway wearing this attire. Just look squared away. I end up using the interview work shoes and pants at some places if they have a similar dress code or none. I know with my experience I could walk in with jeans and a tucked plain T-shirt and get the job but my Marine side just won’t let me do this. Good luck.

 

Yeah what he said but also ... from my experience interviewing people.

Don't come into an interview with chew in your mouth.

leave the tobacco and vap crap out in the car.

have your clothes clean and pressed, wrinkled looks like crap.

Don't try to cover up odors with after shave, nothing like having an office stink for three days as if I was working in a bottle of Aqua Velva.

Don't slick back your hair either, I have had a nice cloth high back chair and one interviewee used a pomade and put his hair back, leaving a spot on the chair that never came out, I think the cat was telling me to get rid of it, she pissed on it to give me an excuse.

If you have a dog, please don't bring the fur with you, nothing like following someone out and having a fur storm in front of you.

Don't bring your kids, I don't like kids.

If you are invited out to dinner or lunch, don't act like you are at home. I had a few who acted like they were starving, nothing like watching someone eat with their fingers and it wasn't cultural.
