My microwave(1000 watt according to the box it came in) pulls almost 1300 according to the output display,my grill and my coffee pot pull 750-800 on a Cobra 1575. I run my tv (13 in)and phone chargers on it and they do not register.
I use a COLEMAN thermo-electric that keeps my frozen dinners (from home in tupperware type bowls I only eat my food) good through the week along with water, soda/sweet tea lunch and breakfast stuff.
I don't think 750 will run much. It will charge phone, laptop, TV. I never had any luck with any 12 Volt device like oven, coffee pot, griddle............
Hope that helps.

Thanks TazzThat was helpful !
Also, I've been doing some research since I posted. I'm thinking a cooler (like your Coleman thermo-electric) rather than a fridge, and should do fine with a 750w inverter. (I hope) Plus the 750w inverter will let me use my laptop and tv (seperatley). As for microwave, I saw a 550 watt micro that can run off a 12volt battery (with an adapter)....your thoughts ? as I said, the microwave will prolly me mostly for heatin soup, ravioli, reheating coffee... -

You may find a post about that type microwave and or tips for cooking food in that thread. Probably some ideas to kick around about coffee ravioli in it. -
I doubt a 750 will run any microwave.
I have a little 500 watt that is really small and about 20 years old.
It plugs into a lighter outlet and runs my 19 inch flat screen, laptop and phone charger just fine.
I installed a 2000 watt inverter using 2 gauge wire direct to the batteries for the microwave. My 900 watt cooking power microwave pulls around 1100 watts on the inverter.
The Coleman 12 volt cooler does a great job and stands up like a fridge and fits perfect in the bottom cabinet opening on the ProStar.
My cooler can run for 2 days before draining the batteries if parked.
Turn the inverters off.
I start my truck daily and let it run for about 45 minutes when i'm home to keep the food cold and not have to unplug the cooler.
Those coolers are about 88 bucks at Walmart but about 129 at the truck stops.
I have the powerbright inverter for the microwave,it will cause the CB to have interference but i leave it off unless i'm cooking. -
Your truck produces 12volt power. Normal house hold current is 120volt. The inverter take the 12v power of your truck and transforms (steps it up) it into 120v so your able to use house hold appliances in your truck. I wouldn't buy any microwave that claims it only needs 550watts to run. Are you talking about that lunchbox things selling in truck stops these days? Steer clear, I have heard nothing but bad about them. Get a normal microwave from wal mart in the 700 or 800 watt range.
To figure wattage requirements is pretty easy. Voltage x Amps = Wattage.
Just look for a sticker on the power chord or somewhere on the surface of the appliance you're wanting to use. -
Thank you one and all for the useful input. I really appreciate it. Keep it coming
As per my original post, my problem is, the company I will most likely be working for only allows about a 750W inverter, so I guess I'll have to make due best I can. -

burton luchbox actually works great--just have to prep every thing ahead of time --leave it in there for hmm maybe 3 hrs while you drive--smells so good--and very nice break from radiated food-unless you are lazy like me and want it done fast
and you cn make darn near anything in there--i use mine for small roasts--with potatoes and such -
The only thing I'd want a microwave for is to heat coffee, soup, ravioli, tv dinners. I'm pretty sure I won't be "cooking" on the road. So, what are my options ? If there is a small enough wattage microwave that could run on a seperate 12V battery, wouldn't that be the thing to do ? It would most likely get minimum use but it would be very convenient. I'm thinking of allowing myself ONE hot meal a day and figured I'd bout half and half it between a quick heat in the micro and a bite inside the truck stop.
