Hey,
I'm starting off on my own and got a used truck from a dealer but I'm trying to figure out the rest of the business. How do you guys do all the invoicing, payment and collection calls to brokers? I don't get how I would do this on my phone in between loads.
What is everybody else doing?

Sounds like you put the cart before the horse
If it's only you, no dispatch or wife at home helping...get a laptop and good printer, you're gonna need it!
As an O/O you can't just drive and have no worries as you may have before as a company driver?
You just became your own non paid secretary -
Haha, Thanks mrbamcclain. Good advice.
So what I am hearing folks have support from a professional dispatcher or wife/family (who is doing the dispatching + invoicing)? -
Starting out if you're using the load boards it's gonna be packet after packet of you're hauling for multiple or sometimes whatever broker is available that best fills your needs, but if you're not set up with that broker, that's another packet to fill out.
It's nice in that situation to have a wide or somebody who can keep up with the paperwork aspect of day to day.
I'm not even gonna get into paperwork needed for audits, etc. Whole different ball game. Don't bring a bat to the court
