I did NOT install them yet...I was home for a whole week, and had to work on home repair issues all week. I was gonna reply because they will NOT upgrade to the newest software no matter how you force them. Not a problem, they did sync to the phone and I put them on a standard Shymacher 20A charger and charged each to 14.6, so a Freightliner 2020 and newer HO Alternator with the float system should have no problems
The reason why I didn't install them is because of buss bar issues. If I only do (2) batteries it gives me no mounting points for the others the way my wiring is set up. So I've set the batteries on the shelf at home for a couple weeks while I've been buying things like hydraulic crimpers, 4/0 battery cable by the foot and lugs.
I've spent a couple hundred on this website so I can get rid of my cabling issues
Quality Copper Battery Cables Made in the USA! - BatteryCablesUSA
Gimme 3 weeks and I'll get all the parts to make sure it's gonna work.
Hell, they are so light I'm half tempted to throw them under the sleeper with me. Run is NC to Chicago to WV. Back in a week.

Well last night test was pretty good. I ran the EPU A/C and had fridge on all night long. I used 18 percent battery on both batteries. In the past with my old AGM batteries I would had to start the truck once during that time frame. That was 12 Hours of sitting although it was cooler but the fan still runs on the A/C and kicks on less.
If anyone is on the edge of buying new batteries I would give these a hard look. If you do not have an APU and wanted to run a Mini Split and or portable A/C unit these batteries would be perfect. You can buy 4 at most and have all the power you would need. No need to put in 8 Batteries anymore if you want all Electric. Also no need to take up extra space as they all fit in the truck battery area just like any other group 31 battery. -
I bought this smart charger to top them off before installing.

I also just bought the cables off of Amazon. Seem to be decent product as well.

Sitting here in Chicagoland ticked I didn't bring the Ioniocs with me just sitting in the cab. I could've just changed 'em out while I'm siting here waiting on the loads to get ready.
I've got so much time on these loads I could've done a temp install (even with jumper cables) and tested them out. Especially with the EPU running full tilt, could have got some real world numbers.Siinman Thanks this. -

So far I have yet to drain the two batteries more than 20 percent. I wish I had bought these earlier as they are perfect so far. Will need to upgrade my EPU batteries some time next. So far they are lasting and have not been run down all the way either. Most they have been down is about 60 Percent. Only have had one day hot since I have had them installed. July has been very cool everywhere I seem to go at least at night.

I bought these to replace my EPU AGM's...
Will Prowse has a YouTube video on tearing them down, including cutting them open. They look good and considerable savings.
Edit I'm still on the road, and will be for 2 more weeks. Had to chase the money. Nobody wanted to do the Chicago to Houston runs next week.Last edited: Jul 28, 2024
