Iphone as wifi hotspot or a mifi card?

    I am a sprint customer, and starting my first OTR job. Should I use my Iphones wifi hotspot or pay a bit more and buy one of Sprints mifi cards? I would be using it to try and Skype with my wife and son as often as possible, and for some general daily browsing (fantasy football rosters, facebook, youtube), and if possible maybe some gaming.

    Why spend the extra money on the mifi ? I have a Samsung Tab (verizon) and use it primarily as a GPS unit. But I can also hotspot, bluetooth or tether it to my laptop with the 3gb data plan. This setup works for me. :biggrin_25520:

    only advantage i see with the mifi is you can be on a call and the web same time

    I have a couple of friends who use their IPhone for internet access. I prefer my Sprint air card. It costs me about $65/month with sales tax. I could probably tether it to my cell phone, but as someone else mentioned, it could be a problem if you want to get online and make calls at the same time. I mostly use mine for my business.

    MY Verizon service and hotspot works well for me, I can be on the phone and internet at the same time. Not sure about how sprint works now, kicked them to the curb years ago.

    i have at&t with my Iphone was grandfathered in with the unlimited data when they had it when it first came out now i have the 4 and can make calls and get calls all while on the internet or playing games. i love the iphone and would not go to any other phone

    The iPhone can only do voice and data on AT&T. Sprint and Verizon customers are out of luck. They will need an HTC phone (Rezound or EVO LTE).

    I jailbroke my wife's 4s so she could tether on Sprint.
