Hey everybody, I need a new phone. My last one fell in the lake. Before I buy I had two questions that I could use your help on:

    • Do you use apps on your smartphone to help you with your driving? If so, which ones are the best?
    • Do Android phones or iPhones work better for drivers?

There's several apps that make trip planning better but I would not rely on driving directions.

Both phones have full web browsing capabilities so you can browse straight from your palm for basic stuff rather then having to fire up a laptop.

I have a Nexus Galaxy Droid.

Yes I use apps. I used Tripack today to scan in trips so I could get paid. Google Earth to check locations, Google Maps for the same. Truck stop apps to see what parking n food is available.

the driod razr maxx has a longer battery life and more durable. I can get typically, with zero ussage, 80 hrs before recharging my droid, that's with it just sitting around. Typically, with moderate use, I can get 18 hrs before recharging, and even then I still have 20% battery left. Also, it's waterproof to 3ft, gorilla glass, and somewhat impact resistant. I have an Otterbox commuter case on mine, it's been dropped from cab height at least a dozen times, several times landing screen down without a single problem. Dropped twice today in water puddles while climbing in/out of a trailer without issue. Been dropped from my shirt pocket while on the cat walk onto dirt/gravel without issue as well.

I use mapping a LOT in my Samsung Galaxy S because my GPS has a better than 7 year old map and doesn't know a LOT!

I can't speak about I-Phone but I think Android ROCKS!

I used a Droid. "Google Maps" I liked to check out where I'm going to see if I can park truck somewhere around there for break if I have to. I could also pay bills from truck anywhere in country.

I can pay every bill I have via my phone plus transfer money home instantly via bank of America app. I know almost all my customers but occasionally I'll go sonewhere new, and man, google maps satellite view is a absolutes life saver.
