IRP/IFTA for Gross Vehicle Weight of 26,000 lbs?

Unless the laws have changed you do not need IFTA if you're under CDL but you do need IRP to haul for hire across state lines.

 

You’re 1/2 right. He’s in the clear on both. Both ifta & irp come into effect at 26,001lbs. So at 26,000 he doesn’t qualify for either.

 

Some states allow cross border delivery under a certain amount of miles. Reciprocity laws for WI.

Interesting. Thanks for clearing it up. I know we apportioned the 3/4 pickups we used to run and they were tagged at 26000. I thought it was the law, maybe not.

 

Not required for non-CDL units BUT east coast trucks are still responsible for the NY HUT decal/taxes....
