Is $0.55 per Mile a Good Starting Rate for New Truck Drivers?

    I signed my offer letter, got that sent back to them a couple weeks ago now, and nothing but crickets from them now.

    You're in the top 10% then. No way a new driver is getting that. Count them Blessings.

    .49 to .59 cpm would be the new driver pay at most of these companies mentioned. Good luck getting 2500 miles a week with all of their BS mixed in. And by BS i mean of course during a down trend they are going to make sure any driver with a couple of years with them is going to get miles before you. However with that and detention pay only hovering around $20 an hour is living out of truck worth that to you? These mega's seem to go to many other mega businesses and drop & hook is a very loose term. Hurry up & wait. Find me a company offering $30 an hour detention? Ha!

    I was getting 2500 miles a week hauling milk regional WI, IL and IA @ $30 an hour as a new driver. Think outside the bun! The brats not as bad as the bun...
