I really wish the wife all the best in a recovery. that being said,

with your CDL, are there any towing companies there, that can start you off on the smaller wheel lifts, then train you for big rig towing and recoveries..??

when you get called out on a big rig tow/recovery, you get paid when you leave the house, until you return. now that CAN MAKE for a very long day, but you are already 1/3rd the way there with that CDL.

wheel lift, another 3rd, then big rig, the final 3rd.

you can be home more, make probably 5 times the money of the other job you're going to be doing, and when you gain more experience, you get the first call, over a newbie.

I am paid the same for any day I work. The least I make is about $18.50.

That is if I work a 14 hour day. The less I work the more I make per hour.

    My thoughts:

Start working NOW. Take the 10 an hour, and continue looking for a better paying gig. When something better comes up ask your current employer to match it. If they don't match it, walk. Try not to burn bridges, do give notice, and let your employer know you appreciated the opportunity, but you have to do whats best for you and your wife.

But if 10 an hour is the best you can do for now, than do it. Nothing bad has come from working, but idle time can really wear a man down.

Lol, yeah, reminds me of a little piece one of our local news channels titled "Rural America". They were driving through our Wheatland so on the vid you saw old grain silos, old homesteads, large old buildings and the occasional camper on jacks. They sometimes zoomed in on an old tag along disc or 2 bottom trip plow, and Grandpappys old John deere 55 combine parked in the weeds. At the end they did a shoot standing on the private runway (airplane no doubt was in that big building) of one of the "poor rural neighbors" in the distance you could see 2, $300,000 combines, a couple nice tractors, a chain link fence (swiiming pool I believe), as they panned the area you could see a lot of nice implements, they didnt show the house or all the toothless people...

We feel sorry for folks living boxed in with people telling you when and what color to paint your house, reminds me of Los Angeles traffic one day I was following a little pickup that had a sixer of beer and a loaf of bread in the back, fighting rush hour traffic lol looks like a good life!

You keep doing what your doing, working and being home later in the day to take care of your bride. your getting experience and later will payoff. Try as hard as possible, build a great profile. They will always remember you and will talk good about you later. Keep up the good work.
