Yeah, I live in a major city here in N.E.

my home as an example was built in 1860, all stone foundation. others are same or a bit older. values alone, and especially in an historic district command higher rents.

we have to follow guide lines for the exterior of the homes and when remodeling, must be near perfect to the Victorian structure. if we want storm windows for instance, they have to be from a particular maker.

it's a bunch of BS, but then again, the value alone makes it worth it at selling time.

I live in rural Texas not near a big city and I pay my new hires $10/hr. Some don't even have a regular drivers license or a high school education.

I would think with a CDL you should make more. If it is that bad where you live have you thought of moving? Serious question. Lots of places you could make double that and I doubt the cost of living would be that much higher.

yes, then the robberies, crime rates, dilapidated houses, no parking, etc, etc.

hey, if one has the money, one can live in a nice place

no money..?? then a highway over pass with a refrigerator box, can do..

Saw an ad the other day looking for a driver to go around and pick up dead livestock from farms/dairies and such. Started at $13. Don't think I've ever seen a CDL type job up here advertising $10 per hour. Guess if the cost of living was cheap enough down there, $10 might be OK.

    Yeah! It's very low.

But......as bad as it sounds to most people???? You got back into the game. Use the time to keep a clean driving record and move on to better pastures after a year or so. I just got back into driving after 10-11 years and was lucky enough to have people who knew other people to land me a fairly decent driving job. I am making less than doing my own thing, ( residential rehabs) but when I park the truck at night, I'm not answering a hundred different phone calls either.

Best of luck to you my friend.

Well when you divide what we OTR drivers make by the hours we work, we are lucky to make much more than that per hour.

why don't you just go through a student program again at one of the companies that hire students? even the student pay should end up being more than 10 bucks an hour I would think
