oh, ok, but I do not pay rent. it's the non-home owners that do that for me, and the other home owners (land lords).

    I hear this a lot...

when you say this are you counting the total hours you drive, or just the total hours OTR in general? (wait time sleeping etc)

I was wondering that myself but figured it has to be total time overall.

    has too be total time.
if you drove 500 miles in a day at .40 cents a mile that's $200, divided by driving 11 hours is $18 a hour. and that's just pay for a beginner

I used to count all hours on the log, between driving, on duty not driving. off duty or sleeper was not. I think one time, it came to about $6 per hour.

Playing Devil's advocate here the driver could end up sitting for a whole day and then only driving 250 miles the next day when it comes to OTR. So the pay per hour is probably less than $18 quite a few times for a lot of OTR drivers for hours they worked. Most local driving jobs from what I've seen pay better (if not significantly better) then OTR though.

    born&raisedintheusa and bzinger Thank this.
