i notice that operators from NL and other western eu countrys love to keep their older trucks

    how they stay with fuel

since those old trucks are not good as today ones

The old Scania 113 is quite amazing on fuel. Practiced in one of those, got an average empty of 17,8l/100km with a loft of town driving (16,5m).

From R series the old 420 euro 3 is amazing on fuel economy. The newer 420 with that crap opticruise gearbox want's nearly 3l more.

Volvos FH 440 6x2 16,5m with I-shift and about 17tone load for the last two weaks I got 27.7l/100km and 12% outroll according to Dynafleet. Quite bad but there was a lot of caravans out and many new places to go to.

    this one was 112

as you say new r420 do you think on euro 4?

    egr takes too much

serie 2 have 0.665 air drag

streamline 0.5 which is almost at level of today trucks

    there is

    142 420 v8
    143 420

    124 420 euro 2
    124 420 euro 3
    124 420 euro3+hpi

    p/g/r/t series

    420 e3
    420 e4 egr
    420 e5 scr
    420 eev scr
    and japan version NST 420

    r440 is 12.7L engine

here 420 is much more popular because it is cheaper 1000€ and it can run on bad fuel and dont need sintetic oil

Can we please keep this thread to trucks sold and driven here in the USA on USA highways and all fuel mileage measurements used be miles per gallon with all rules and regs regarding weight be what is used by the FMCSA here in the USA.

This thread is starting to get real confusing talking about trucks in Europe or elsewhere on the planet.

Not complaining, just trying to keep this thread simple and easier to understand for most readers here in the USA.

    Thank you!

    Sumothertrucker Thanks this.

You had 10 mpg truck in US markets already in the 80s but no one wanted to buy it, so stop whining about bad fuel mileage and buy more chrome..
