Yes but the salary will protect honest drivers also from the bad side of trying to get all those miles. Like when shippers/receivers take 5 hours to load/unload you and then you don't have a full day to get your miles in on the E. Logs. It also can help if you have an old truck that breaks down constantly. A lot of per milers don't get paid for things that are not their fault. A salary would help the driver still make a good wage when everything else doesn't work out to where you can get your 3000 miles or so, and it's not your fault. If you find a driver trying to eat his salary and not work, you get rid of him/her. That and the driver being in a position where they cant work any harder to make more money. But with good bonuses and a boss who is willing to share profits with the guy/gal making it for him, It could work. I think without that it wouldn't work because the driver would (or at least I might) feel like he/she was in a rut and look for greener pastures if they are a hard worker. I would like to see a boss who calls me and says hey great job on delivering that early even though you didn't have to. "Here's a hundred bucks. Keep up the good work. Now here's your next load. You can get there early too! Oh me and my perfect worlds I have yet to see it. I did get a qualcom message once from USA praising me for my hard work while cheating on my logs the whole way back in 2007. But nothing to add to my .28 a mile.
Is $104,000 a year a decent w2 salary for an experienced otr reefer driver
