I just got my cdl this week. About 2 months ago, before I had my cdl, I got a conviction for speeding 16 over the speedlimit. At the time I didnt realize how serious it was. I have one other ticket for 7 over in Florida about a year and a half ago. Those are my only tickets ever. Now I am trying to find a local driving job. I am looking at water/soda/beer delivery jobs. Most jobs I am looking at say, no more than 2 tickets in 3 years, no dui, and no wreckless driving. I know the 16 over is considered a serious offence, but is it the same as wreckless? Do I have a chance of getting these jobs or any local driving job? My school said I would be ok, but I am worried.
is 16 over the same as wreckless driving?

Put your location on your profile & maybe someone can help. The 16 over is a serious problem in trucking. Some companies might consider you if you're in the hiring area.
mje, Tonythetruckerdude and Boomer 1 Thank this. -

Now, the best you can do is just start applying for jobs & see what happens. Check Careerbuilder website for local jobs. If no luck, you might have to go OTR until the 16 over drops off.

The 2 tickets in 2 years with 1 being for 16 MPH over will be the reason a lot of places just say Sorry ! because of INSURANCE costs

usually 10 over is considered wreckless. I have lived in 6 states that consider it wreckless.

I had one in Indiana for 17 over, dont think they considered it wreckless, it had dropped off of the "3 year rule" a couple days before I applied at central, so I cant say if it would of mattered. I can call my insurance company in the morning, Im good friends with the gal there, she can tell me, and Ill let you know. Gotta make a payment anyways, so not a bother.

Ya 16 miles over is very serious. I think in Florida it's considered reckless. What did your ticket say? Usually there is a box that they check that says either just unlawful speed or it will say reckless speed. Having two tickets like that its going to be hard because of insurance. Good luck.

You need to get it reduced to below 15 mph over.. I thinkin that's what most companies consider wreckless..
good luck
