Is 2-3 days off for every 3-4 weeks out the standard for OTR Megas?

Roehl offered a variety of flex schedules. For starter companies, KLLM & FFE are 2 per 7. KLLM caps at 14 days accrued and 7 is max for keeping same trk. idk if FFE caps or has a max with same trk. DHT is 1.5 per 7, I don’t believe they cap or have a limit on keeping same trk.
This for otr. Regional and dedicated may vary. -

I've worked for co's that are calling me 7 am Monday asking if I'm ready "to go" ? Then I've also worked for co's where I've called in at 7 am being ready to go, and they don't have anything to dispatch. And I'm then baby sitting the q-comm for most all day, not a great way to spend a day off. Bottom line, supply and demand. Freight needs to go, drivers need to drive.

You OTR guys better be making some darn good money. God bless y’all.
Pamela1990 and BeHereNow97 Thank this. -
Luckily OTR pay has been going up but yeah, it's definitely still underpaid. Another sector that I noticed can be very underpaid is also Tanker work (for fuel hauling jobs, so not food grade or anything like that but fuel tankers), at least in some parts of the country. I've seen ads for around 60k-70k per year. 70k per year better be for 40 hours per week at about $33 per hour if you're hauling around what is essentially a big ticking time bomb. 60k per year is way too low even for a 40 hour work week.
There was a post on another forum about a driver who worked 4 days a week and was getting paid $33 per hour, OT after 40. She said she worked about 48 hours per week and was grossing about 90k per year. That seems fair to me. Very good work life balance and getting paid good money to do it for al the risks that it entails.
Back to OTR work and OTR pay, the way to make that work in my opinion is to not have rent/mortgage and all the costs associated with that so you can just save a lot of money that way.Pamela1990 Thanks this. -
I've always considered OTR good money. True enough, you won't get rich, but it's good enough to make a living. It's good money considering the job functions. The only hard thing about it to me is the psychological side of it, and if you're mentally tough then it becomes nothing.
