That's the way we do it. Due do the nature of Federal and most State filings we are attesting to the authority that we are covering "all units owned, operated or leased to the named insured"......consequently we need to see that the unit is not going to mysteriously end up being inspected under your authority.....so Bill of Sale of copy of Lease Termination

Is there a possibility of a "spare rate" liability as @strollinruss suggested?

Main thing to remember on the 'no respect' aspect. He may be a white elephant, but he's getting a good 1 to 1.5 mpg better than those hot rods. At his age it's a numbers game.

I know several guys that are a one man show and have a back up truck that just sits. I always thought they just had non trucking liability on the spare. I have seen other guys with a farm tag on the spare truck until its needed.

i had two trucks for a while when i bought my current one i planned on keeping my old truck around as a spare, however when i added up the costs of having that second truck ready to go if i needed it and how much i would have to use it in a year just to break even, it just was not going to be used that much so i sold it.

as far as selling the international to keep the 359 i don't know if that is a wise business decisions. unless that 359 has had a lot done to it recently (suspension all redone engine re done wiring re-done air lines replaced ect) the old trucks need a lot of attention to be in the ready to run every day category. you could probably get around the insurance deal maybe write up a fake bill of sale to a friend or family member to be able to drop it and then you could take your time going threw that cool old truck and getting it ready to work every day.

or you could could climb up in that cab and run the truck yourself like you were thinking of doing anyway and make that truck earn its keep.

as far as no respect in a ant eater who the flock cares, i certainly don't a truck that is running down the road making money is all that's important. besides the only people who give someone flack for not driving a hood are people with small man syndrome that want to feel like a big man cause they have a hood and you don't.

For general OTR I would advise anyone over 50 to be aware this is not an easy life for anyone. I suggest you talk to other drivers. Only you can determine if your too old.
