It's a good series of engines. Not as well known as the 6nz but just as dependable and hard to go wrong with one. I've been running one for 12 years with 1.9 million miles. You can crank some horse out of them like any other e model. Their hard to beat in my opinion.
dirthaller Thanks this. -

The 58 injectors are for up to 550 horse. 57 are for 435 to 475. Maybe less I'm not sure. That's just the last numbers on the part number is all he's referring to.

Perhaps I was wrong on that. I maybe need to do some sober research on injectors again. I didn't think 57 could handle up to 550. Makes me wonder what the 59's I'm running can put out

I think the last year for Cat in Volvos was 1997.

58's over 57's a gain of about 120hp, 59's over 57's a gain of about 250hp. but you dang well better have the turbo to match along with a few other mods also.

Yes you definitely need to know what you are doing and if what you have can handle it as a mechanic and as a driver. The 59's do have the potential to melt a good engine really fast. I wouldn't recommend to a rookie driver that wants horsepower at all.
