The company can fire you for violating their rules, but they don't write regulation or create laws. I know many in the industry never see a difference between policy and laws/regulations but the difference is important. "Is it legal for the company not to send me a birthday card, buy me a bus ticket, give me food to eat?"

Last I remember reading it was in a discussion of carrying a motorcycle. DOT allows some nominal and small amount of flammable liquid such as in a moped or motorcycle fuel tank. I'll look for it. This stuff is often expressed in the Q&A Guidance and hinted at in the regs.

So you have optimized idle. That's different from an EPU. If I'm running the bunk heater, my 12V outlets in the bunk shut down at about 7 hours, 9hrs for the 12V outlets up front. I do have a fridge on the bunk circuit, but I can't just unplug it.

It isn't.
The motor cycle thing is carrying another vehicle, the gas can thing has to be in a dot compliant container which has a safety loop on it so not to be damaged and spill when dropped.tscottme Thanks this. -
I got both EPU with autostart

imho i think what you wrote is is a non-sequitur
it does not follow that the company can fire you for violating their rules but they do not write the regs,
the argument re "difference between policy and laws" is a non-sequitur
industry regulations have nothing to do with company rules that establish what an employee can and cannot do with the company equipment, obviously the company must remain within the color of the law
for instance DOT says "you cannot have non-compliant equipment" and it is ok if the company says "you cannot have any of this equipment (if you work here)," these company policies are about running the business in a profitable and safe, legal manner and DOT in a very basic sense is about public safety, one is in the interest of private enterprise and the other is for the benefit of the public, non-sequitur
it does not follow that the company must follow DOT and provide all those things you list because those things you list are not DOT requirements, there is no logical connection between DOT regs and what a company decides to provide or forbid for its employees as long as the company is not violating DOT regs, the company can set whatever policy it sees fit, and employees enjoy the freedom of association and they can choose their preferred employer
