You guys still debating with her? Once I notice she was a rookie & a woman I stopped. That's beyond a lose-lose situation.... I wish her the best of luck and hope she stays safe and profitable.
Is a CB Radio really necessary to have?

Another poster early on noticed the chip you're carrying around.
But, with all due respect in spite of, all this really has never been about the CB itself per se, it's more about it's use and who uses it, isn't it?
Bottom line is this-There are more pro's to having a CB than the con's against it.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
I been at the game long enough to know to turn off the beeyatch box if I'm gonna sleep at a truck stop. So I'm down in Ft. Pierce, FL (CB off) sleeping daytime because that's just how the run panned out. 12:00 the alert tone goes off startling the crap outta me. "This is a weekly test of the . . ." I'm sleep thick trying to turn the power off and the knob IS off. I finally pushed the right buttons and it shut up but apparently that constant hot wire keeps it in some kinda standby and it still scans the weather stations in the background even when the knob is "off". Don't get me wrong. If that had been a tornado alert - AWESOME, but I wasn't real keen on the feature at the time.
The other thing is the scanning thing; unless you disable scanning, you'll spend the whole storm you're driving through switching it back to CB mode every 15 minutes. Totally concentrating on maintaining during a very heavy storm and; "BEEEEEEP! The National Weather Service has issued . . ."
"Yeah. I know. This downpour and chunks of ice peppering me are a pretty good clue I'm in it. Thanks." Back to CB. Fifteen minutes later BEEEEP. "Yeah. I KNOW. I got it the first five times." BEEEEP. "Ahhh. PLEASE shut up and let me drive!" Of course that was NOT the time to fiddle with stuff trying to "un-set" weather scan, especially in a radio new to me. So I turned the CB off.
Reference the trying to sleep comment. BEEEEP. BEEEEP. BEEEEP. All six hours driving through the storm. OK. Lesson learned about digital CB's and scan function for weather band. LOL.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

if no CB, you must wear flip flops, fingerless gloves, have an automatic, not be able to shift if you didn't, hang in the middle lane at 62 in a 70 mph zone, ect
otherwise someone might think your a truck driver like me.
and your not.gokiddogo and joseph1135 Thank this. -
Again, a CB is a tool. It is nice to have. But you will have to decide if you NEED it.
I do not have a Facebook account. I do not Tweet. I don't understand all the hash tag talk. My life seems full but maybe it isn't.
I also do not understand Homosexuality. I do not see a need for it. I don't understand a woman wanting to drive a semi. I do not have to understand any of it but I do believe that my understanding is not important. It is up to each of you as people to make that determination for yourselves. I am a little bit upset by the tone of some of the back and forth name calling on a subject like is a CB necessary.
So, let me close my interest and make this my final comment on the matter. No a CB is not necessary. But it is a nice thing to have as it lets us talk to each other. Being alone all the time is one of the hard things we do. Having someone to reach out to at 3 AM is a good thing. -
