Worth saving if you can get the title for it before hand. No need to spend money on it for the uncle to say no in the end.
Last Call and Miketruckinginc Thank this. -
My Pete sat for years. So long one of the drives developed a knot just airing it up. Some of that time was in a shop some outside. Had 700k original miles on it. I took a set of wheels and tires to Muscle Shoals Alabama on a Friday to get it back home to Arkansas. Changed the engine oil gave it a quick once over loaded my stuff and stopped to tag it on my way to mill creek Oklahoma the next Monday. Once there we spent 6 weeks hauling frac sand in a hopper from mill creek to Odessa tx. We put one load in a rail car in Odessa every 24 hrs. 6 weeks straight did I mention that? Now I realize I had some luck involved but if it was me I’d do the minimum to get it running and use it enough to evaluate if it’s worth spending money on or not. Maybe it needs very little. You can spend every dime you have and 24 hrs a day for 365 days straight on a truck and that m’fer will break down backing it outta the shop. You gotta use it to truly see what it needs. More leaks are caused from a Jack ### mechanic replacing #### that don’t need it than anything else. Yes sitting can be hard on one. But replacing #### just to do it is asinine and throwing good money after bad. Naturally it needs to be safe, then use it and see where you land. It won’t be near as bad as the naysayers think most likely. On the off chance it is you won’t have a retirement tied up in it and can cut ties early.

It don't look bad looks can deceiving though

Just because their not flat doesn't mean their good if it's sat outside then I promise your they are weather cracked & dry rotted ..
BTW .. have have you priced tires ? Its gonna cost your a fair bit of money just to replace all 10 tires
And if by some chance they are 24:5's .. your gonna really spend some coin & you best start trying to round up a matched set now .
The next thing you better start investigating is what its gonna cost you to license that truck ...depending on what state your in & what license your trying to buy it can be quiet costly ... the state I in live in if you want to license a truck thats been sitting for a extended peroid of time they make you jump through alot of hoops & paper work plus you will pay the licensing fees & taxs for every year it was not licensed if it sat 6 years in my state it would cost you roughly about 8k and a whole lota paper work & headaches
JMHO ..but you better closely read & take notes what @wore out & @Ridgeline posted.. I'am not try'n to be a smartazz but I'am telling you from experience your getting into a project that is going to be extremely costly and very very time consuming .. Personnal I think your getting into something well over your head & you have no idea of what its gona take & cost your gonna have 3 times what that trucks value is in it .. and thats not counting your labor
This is not some weekend project you do in the driveway in front of your uncle's garage
But Hey you aready gots your mind made up..and I don't know nothing I'am just a dumb old cow hauler.. that doesn't know the difference between a round's all wrench & a multi- meter
I expect you'll be flooding this fourm with threads about this truck again & again this all JMHO..
