I am starting MTI on the 5th of April, in Richfield WI. I was wondering if anyone else is starting then. Big career change for me as I have been an Electrician for almost 20 yrs. Company I worked for closed the doors and moved. Time to try something new I guess. I have been reading alot of the posts about millis the last couple of weeks on here and seems to be good company to drive for.

i went through 8 weeks at sage/isothermal in 08 and i learned alot as far as book knowledge and also the truck. that helped me out there.but the training at MTI is more about being in control of the vehicle the instructor was very knowledgeble and cool to boot...:biggrin_25514:

I will try and keep everyone updated on the training. And thanks Mceheel for the welcome aboard. Glad to see that I am not the only one doing the major career change thing at this stage of the game. I hope that your training in the truck with your trainer goes good. What did you take for the pay? per diem or non? Practical or hhg? Trying to figure out wich is best. I am swaying toward the non per diem practical but not set for sure yet.

wats up sibhusky? i took the per-diem/practicle route. we had 4 in our class and we all took the same, then there was two guys that come into the orientation on monday & tuesday that already had driven and they took the same deal. the benefits for per-diem out weighed the other so thats why i took it, if i'm not happy with it i will change it. my trainer started out with non per-diem and he said he changed over to per-diem, he said it worked out better for him. good-luck man with your NEW CAREER. i am 45 yrs old and am to stubborn to fail at this. i am going to get out there and give 110% at this. you ever hear REO SPEEDWAGONS song they do? "KEEP PUSHING". thats all WE can do man. :biggrin_25525:

Mceheel, Thanks for the pay info, I to amgonna give 110% as I cant fail either. I wont fail. Family depends on it and also that isnt in my nature. How is it going with your trainer. hopfully it is all good. And yes I know REO very weel matter a fact was listening to it earlier when I went to pick upo the last of my stuff. Keep pushin and get some miles down. I am a little younger than you as I am 39 yrs old. I have family & Friends that also drives truck and loves it. Did 6 yrs on submarines so I already know about being away from the family and am already getting them Prepared. You are gonna have to let me know how the otr training goes. I will try to keep posting about the class as well. Later
