Hey guys, just figured I woukld drop a line quick. All done with school and oreintation. gettin ready and leavin with trainer today. Im sick of unemployment. can only sit on that for so long. Class was great. in our third week we made 2 trips to black river and 1 to trenton and back ot richfield. Everyone in our class made it thru. and I think they all have trainers already to.

Have not made the choice yet. Now that you are done with the school you are employed by Millis? They said I was accepted for school and need to get registered for the class. I can't go in May, but can go to the June 7th school date in Ohio. Do they have people go through school that don't get hired on by Millis? I don't want to get hung out to dry... Like I said in an earlier post I have Roehl as an option too. Difference there is that I pass their DOT physical now and then a Roehl focussed physical performance test there the first day of school.

    Looking for input! Thanks

Got approval letter and docs from Millis today. Will start in Cartersville GA on May 17th.

Was originally offered work and was ready to start with Stevens as Millis had not reviewed my app after two week. However, I choose Millis over Stevens due to less training cost, only 1 year required and training loan is forgiven compared to 3 years with Stevens, better rate per mile and have not liked what I have read related to the issues with reefer freight. Would rather go to GA than Dallas since I have family there anyway and can visit them when I am off training.

I hope it all works out - Anyone else set for this date?

I'm still undecided between Roehl and Millis. Just as I think one over the other I think maybe the other would work better. Millis has training closer to home. Roehl is further away. Seems that both these two companies are very similar where training time is concerned.
At Roehl I can start when I need to. Millis Says June 7th only. I'm interested in running flats which they said is available for me. Just such a big decision. I can pray I make the right choice for me!

I know I really wanted to go to Hamilton Oh for training since it would be closer - but didnt want to wait until June to start, so I got in for the class in Cartersville. I have friends north of Atlanta so it works also.

It is a hard choice and no one can tell you what you need except you. For me Millis is a better choice - but that's just me. I wish you the best and keep us posted on what you decide.

Hamilton is a lot closer for me too. 5 1/2 hours. Did they guarantee a job after you are finished with school? I talked to the recruiter and really didn't seem like they wanted to say yes for sure. But I guess that is the way it is everywhere. You really aren't guaranteed anything. They always have a loophole to use when needed. I like the idea of Millis and no Canada. I like the NYC money 100 bucks is pretty good. Roehl is 75 for NYC and 50 for Canada. For Roehl I have to get my TWIC card, get my Passport card within the first 60 days. Thats a 200 dollar hit right there. I'm drawn to them because of them FB's, but then I think man it is cold in winter sometimes...

lol Sorry for the babbling just working things through. Man I just hope nothing pops up on this DOT physical. I'll know more this evening.
Well, if anyone has some pull with the powers that be just send a little positivity my way! THANKS!!!!! lol:mconfused:

Hamilton is only about 1 1/2 from me but have many friends in Atlanta so either way I am good. I have my passport already so I am good for Canada if ever needed, but dont think Millis runs to Canada.

The offer is usually only made once you get through the training so I am not too worried about that. If they dont want me then - it's not meant to be I guess.

I hear ya on the if they don't want ya thing. I think being with them and taking the per diem for the first year is a good choice. I mean you end up close on cpm and get a week vacation after 6 months and 2 after a year. Not sure how it will balance out exactly, but it seems to be a good option. Maybe even for the first 2 years. By that time if you need to go another direction you have a lot of miles racked up.
Are you concerned with being targeted by the law because of the recent accident Millis had with the driver watching a movie and killing a person in NY? Not that I'd be doing anything wrong, but I don't want the extra hassle.

Yeah Millis said they don't go into Canada. I don't need to do that anyhow. Been to Toronto once and that is enough... lol

I guess if Millis had a training date a week later I would choose them. If I don't go the 7th they have another class in July, but I won't be working and that would be a healthy hit to my cash flow. 3 weeks will hurt enough, but 6 weeks... no thanks... you know...

I hadnt heard about the wreck in NY - will have to look that up for info. I would think that if you are legal and do what you are trained - any safety problem will be avoidable. I am still debating the whole per diem thing at this time. Not sure which one I will do. I am doing some odd jobs between now and the 17th so I can have what I need when there. I have friends there so If I need anything they will help I am sure.

I am in the same boat - my severance ran out and I am at least going to apply for unemployement so I might at least get a week or two in before I am officially hired on so that may help also.
