right. You are techniclly requred to buy as much fuel in the state as you would burn for the miles you drive. You don't do that so when you buy your fuel in one state and drve through 4 then Ifta takes the tax you paid in the ne state you bought fuel in and distributes it to the ones you drove in but didn't buy fuel in.
Is anybody really making enough profit?

you pay no more then if you would have bought the proper amount of fuel in each state you ran in. It's a mess for paerwork but that's about it. Actually when I had my authority there was no ifta and you had to file every state independantly. Talk about a nightmare
