Is anybody still doing a 10-15K oil change?

I was running 30k on my oil changes with samples taken at each change and they've always came back perfect. I could only push 26k on my last oil sample due to clogged up fuel filters causing issues. I'm thinking I will just go 20k on my oil changes from now on, as long as my samples come back good. 860k on the C15 as of now and still doing good.

Also contemplating putting a Spinner2 on the truck this spring.

Our trucks go 15,000 on full wet service and 8,000 on a dry service. Seem to have way fewer driveline and frontend problems since adding the 8,000 mile dry service.

My comfort zone depends on the machinr and its conditions. On most machines double is enough. I still feel like changing before 2 years as well.

In the case of the Feed truck, the recommended interval is what it gets for hours per month. When thats the case i am okay with going triple or quadruple on the OEM reccommendations.

I domt try to push limits just for fun. I still have a gut feeling of "it needs changing" for no other reason than peace of mind.

Right now, I am doing 20K oil changes, or ballpark 400 hrs. Detroit recommend on DDEC IV 12.7 Series 60 is 15,000. Too short. I crawl under and grease the truck at 5K intervals. If I know I will be some time in some dead serious cold weather, I will opt to put in a 5w40 synthetic. There is a noticable difference in starting and getting oil pressure up in extreme cold. If temps are going to always be above 20F, I go with conventional. Same brand on each, and I get identical oil sample reports on each. Except for the cold weather performance, they perform identical in the engine.

I only grease mine every 15,000, when I change the oil. 1.3 million miles and I have only had to change one u-joint.

What kind of grease are you using? I like the Delvac extreme grease, Mobil rates it for 30k intervals and I really like the price and availability, price $4.99 a cartridge and available at any TA or Petro...

Yup, totally agree with that method.

I used to grease every 3-5K but found it was too much. The manual actually states intervals closer to 20-25K, can't remember off hand the exact number.

I think the biggest problem with greasing is that the slip joints usually never get enough. The manual states to "pump until grease comes out the yoke and the place the finger on the hole and pump till it comes out the back".

How many guys at Speedco or Petro do that? Mine gets greased just like that every 12K give or take and have never had a problem.

None, ever. I grease my own truck so that I know that every zerk was cleaned prior to greasing, that every zerk took grease, and that all components were serviced....

I got tired of trying to get the people who I was paying to service my equipment to actually do what I was paying for...

Chevron Delo HD EP2. Not easy to come by though.

Our T600 has a Groneveld Auto Luber that came on it. As with all of our equipment that has autolubers, visual inspections are still performes and annual checkups on every fitting to make sure there arent any issues.

The other trucks spend a lot of time off road so they get greased more often.
