Is backing up pup trailers really that hard?

danny folks who do P&D city delivery use a 28' trailer a lot. It is just a matter of getting used to it. It is harder to back a pup with a road tractor, than it is a long box with a road tractor, but again, once you get used to it, it is easy.
Don't psyche yourself out over this. The company knows your experience level and won't expect you to handle a rig like a 20 year driver. It is a learning process, and the only way to learn is to DO IT.

When I had to back an 8' flatbed (going to get firewood) with a 5' tongue... I could not see it at all behind my pickup!

I told my BIL to go stand on it so I could see where it was going/turning.

small corrections and youll be fine..most people just want to yank the wheel hard left then hard right, then hard left and the pup just snakes everywhere. start out with small adjustments and add as necessary.
backing doubles takes a lot of patience, im still not that good at it. But i practice every saturday morning when I get back to the terminal since no one is there.

To each his own. My employer has pub trailers they use on certain routes. I just don't care to pull them. I'll take the '45 or '48 anyday though.
