Is becoming an owner operator a good idea?

    i have been driving for a company now for 5 years and the money has changed.. is owning your own rig a good idea?

    Nothing personal, but if you are asking such a basic question at this point my answer is no. A person (in my opinion of course) should only be an OO if they already have a basic idea under who's DOT authority their going to run under and a simple business plan already worked out AND would have several years experience under their belt. A person whom has did this would not be asking the question you just did.

    Until you know someone very successful at it I wouldn't recommend it until you have a good example to follow.

    I don't think it was an ignorant answer. I have to agree with the X-ray man myself. If you need to ask the question the obvious answer is no. It means you are not ready to be O/O.
