What do you dislike about it?

I love Washington, but winter here takes a lot out of me and the pay isn't on par with the cost of living. Most jobs are $16-$18/hr.

You could take a look at Yuba City. Legend trucking is out of there....but you might be required to wear a wrap around ball cap!

Cost of living in this state is worse than anywhere else imo.
There is so many taxes that by the time your check arrives to you its been cut In 4 ways. Cost of living isn't cheap eather.

That's why I'm asking about it lol.

I'm chaining daily and driving on ice in the mountains and to the east. I come home to rain.

I've looked at a few jobs in NorCal and they seem to be around $24/hr.

At that pay rate...they would have to be union. Get your name on the list unless you have an inside connection!

Oy, that's discouraging. Unions up here are paying upwards of $30/hr. Maybe I should keep planted here and work towards the union.

Or you could look at places off the west coast . I lived in CA for thirty years and , in hindsight , wasted thirty years of my life .

I moved to Texas when I got tired of barely making ends meet with a $38 an hour job working as a carpenter . I had also become concerned about my folks because it was becoming obvious my Mom was in the early stages of Alzheimers .

The cost of living was 45% of what it was in CA and the people were outstanding . I grew up in the northeast and never felt welcome in CA due to the "Thanks for visiting now leave ." attitude of the CA natives , something I have never experienced in Texas or anywhere else in the south .

The California mystique is what draws a lot of people to move there but the reality is that its an expensive and overcrowded facade . Before all you CA folks jump on me you need to know I have friends and family that live there and a few of them are happy and a few would be long gone if it weren't for the attachments and roots they've put down .
