Is CDL from one state honored by all states?

    Is CDL also like driver's license when it comes to moving to another state? I don't plan to live in DC. DC sucks. I want to live in Utah. So what will happen when I move to Utah? Will they make me do everything all over again or they simply ask me to surrender my exisiting CDL and get the Utah one?

    Most states you simply transfer. Some states (Illinois, I've heard of) will require a full retest.
    Maybe someone that moved to Utah will be able to answer for that specific state.

    Yea, just like if you were to get a brand spanking new CDL. Road test, maneuvers, and pre-trip all three.

    No. You have one license. A CDL is simply adding on extras to the existing license. So what you do in your personal car effects your CDL, and vice versa.

    You would need to contact the state office where you are moving. I tried to do a google search, apparently there is no one answer fits all.

    I am so fed up with DC that I may move to Utah and do everything there. This EIDL loan is a good cash cushion for me to stay afloat for a while. I already had saved up some money and this $20,000 loan is a blessing. Thank you, government.
