Central are a lousy company, as others have said. Owned by Matty Moroun, who either owns or has an interest in several large trucking companies, plus ownership of the Ambassador Bridge. His operations are typified by low wages, crap equipment and generally poor working environment.

Their Hillside terminal used to be on Mannheim Rd, just north of 290 I believe.

I worked at Central back in the 80's, when it was still Teamsters. They had old tractors, run down terminals, and junk trailers back then. From what I've seen, it hasn't improved much.....

Centrals great for a newbie if you want low wages with a wage freeze in effect for the past 2 years. You dont get paid overtime until you go over 55 hrs a week. Your work performance is graded by scans per hour on a dolphin while on the dock and stops per hr while in the city. 20 scans per hr is company goal. The equipment is not maintained well at all and every trailer I've seen in the few months I've been here leaks. Should I say more?:biggrin_25513::biggrin_25521:

Yes what they said !!! I worked for them for a year and hated my terminal manager but I did work all year around . When I started ... I was a linehaul guy , now with that said u don't get paid until u start rolling which means when u first start that hookup and fueling is done for free !!! When u work the dock if ur busy picking up a skid that fell or helping somebody out ur scanner will log u off which means until u catch it and log back on ur working for free. I would leave from york back to balt,md and get there at 3am and they wanted me to sit for 2hrs for free while the dock supv gets in at 5am. The equipment sucks but when u call dispatch u hear that they have state of the art equip !! BS
