4 Wheelers just cruise onto the interstate using the on-ramp as a chance to check the likes on their lunch photo so often that I think they expect everyone to yield to them instead of gauging speed of oncoming vehicles and merging.
Many truckers change lanes to yield to inbound merging traffic. I do as well if safe. However, I think this practice is making the 4 wheeling public lazy and they expect an 80,000 lb vehicle to drop speed and let them poop on out.
I have recently put a few in the snow or off the road because I’m not erratically changing lanes in bad conditions, endangering myself or the car to my left.
It seems like our constant awareness of traffic and defensive nature of avoiding 4 wheelers has contributed to their idiocy in merging.
Maybe if we just rolled on they would learn...
Is changing lanes approaching on-ramps a good habit?

My friend tried your tactic of not allowing a merge, even though he admittedly had room to do so. The guy hit him and got a ticket for it. His small company's insurance paid the ####ty driver for his car and "ER" visit. My friend lost his job because the insurance disallowed him as a driver, even though they agreed with the police officers report.
Moral of the story, sometimes it pays to be courteous.Coffey, Cowboyrich, magoo68 and 1 other person Thank this. -

On ramp yield signs are there for aesthetic purposes only.

With that being said there is not such law to be able to write a ticket for failure to allow merging.
It is up to the driver coming down the on ramp to merge in to traffic safely.
If you can not merge safely in to traffic from an on ramp you must give the right of way to highway traffic till you can safely do so.
Using you logic it’s like pulling in to an active intersection while making a right on red turn thinking the drivers with a green light should stop and allow you to turn.RockinChair, Coffey, TokyoJoe and 11 others Thank this. -
Yeah, I'm kinda like 'if I can, I will', but I'm not doing anything funny to make your life better.
The frustrating thing is, most of the time, if they put their foot in it, it wouldn't be a problem. Its that great moment of indecision that messes them up.91B20H8, homeskillet, Saltyoldone and 9 others Thank this. -
Here in the state of denial, the law is clear, the merging traffic yields to traffic they are merging into.
Had a driver a couple months back get hit by some idiot hot shot driver with a trailer because the idiot didn’t adjust his speed and the idiot expected my driver to get over but had no where to go, so the idiot hit the trailer when he rant out of road. The cop gave the idiot a ticket for failing to yield and the idiots insurance company tried to get mine to pay, didn’t go far.RockinChair, firemedic2816, Trucker61016 and 9 others Thank this. -
