I know drivers like this... One time their pup was sliding off the road around corners and knocking down the road reflectors. Someone had to tell them to slow down. The only reason they started slowing down is because they didn't want to be told to slow down again by the boss or the customer. They know the road like the back of their hand but it's still a very stupid risk to take. Don't let anyone push you to go faster, it takes time to get a feel for things, and trying it too early is bad news.
A little confused? The big road known as 10 runs east-west across the southern part of our country. Maybe meant I80 or 90? but regardless, yeah, get off of his truck.
I remember my first experience on the Freeways in the USA I was inclined to slow down around corners at first till I realized the corners were designed to be travelled around at normal speeds even in a large vehicle, with the exception of a sign that indicates a safe speed for the corner there is no need to slow down on the free way however if he is traveling at or above 70 mph is that actually the legal speed limit? I was quite happy driving at 70 mph in a tractor trailer the company I worked for was asked to restrict our top speed with a speed limiter to 70 by the insurance company, so my truck would do about 72 mph with my foot flat to the floor which was great in any states where the legal speed was 75 I could sit with my foot planted to the floor with no issues of speeding. The fact that this guy has only done 8 months driving himself pretty much says it in a nut shell why the company put you with another newbie is beyond all comprehension my only thought is none of the more experienced drivers are interested in training which is a real shame. Any way if he continues to insist on travelling at those speeds, I'd even consider reporting this to the local sheriff , police, or state troopers anonymously of course.
You are in charge of you. If you wreck nobody will blame your training and let you go. They will blame you. Drive safely.
When I was in training the trainer made me drive 65 in a blizzard. We were flying by other cars and I told him we should slow to their speed. He told me “they’re not professional drivers”. This is also the same guy who wouldn’t let me GOAL and I ended up hitting an awning and defiling my clean driving record. I should’ve just left that company but I was new and stupid.
Feels like you driving with Ricky Bobby. At least he ain’t trying to teach you to make the turn using an apex.
That must be the same trainer that's out there teaching guys not to use their side view mirrors because they aren't liable for anything that happens behind them.
