99/100 spills in the oilfield are cleaned up with a simple vac truck. Emulsion or flow back is nothing more than a mixture of crude oil, produced water and frac gel. Other parts of the country may use recycled water to frac in this area it is fresh water and the produced water is pumped down an SWD. Nothing to get excited about. The process has been going on for years. If it is worrisome to you then probably you should look for work elsewhere. You don't need a resume to get a job driving a truck in the oilfield. You need a work ethic.
is fracwater hazmat?

Well I do not believe I am "yammering", we simply have a difference of opinion. However, I am stating facts also. Fact 1, I am a volunteer fireman and we have standing orders to suit up when responding to frac spills and so does every fire department in our region. Fact 2, by your own admission you make your living in the oil and gas industry so you can hardly be relied upon to give an objective opinion. I would expect you to do what you are doing which is deny science, overlook common sense, and look the other way when it comes to anything negative about the industry. That is a normal psychological response and I can't blame you for that. You are just like everyone else in the oil and gas industry who denies the harm it does to the environment, you like to sleep at night so you kid yourself. But it is what it is and the problem will solve itself as soon as Mother Nature gets fed up with us and wipes us out. But I am glad to hear you made it as long as you did working around that crap and you are still kicking. I hope it continues.

I hauled some material in a vac truck that came out of a tank on a flow back job. It cost $70 a barrel to dispose of at a shaker where it was then hauled out of state. Not only is this stuff toxic but Chinese frac sand is known to be radioactive.

I read your post in detail and understand it readily, your efforts are centrally constructive and I grasp your point very well. Decades ago that was 110-% for me too, I just cannot do it today. -
Lot's of things have changed in 30 years. Hiding the hazards of the chemical hasn't been one of them. If anything, they now go over-board with the PPE.
For me....Dow Klean was the most toxic chemical we handled.....and Dow did away with it in early 1983. That stuff was the best cleaning agent in the world. Parts, uniforms, shop floors. -
