Has anyone noticed if freight has picked up??. I am starting school in January, and have put off starting until then hoping things will change a little. I am thinking of going w/Werner, or Gordon doing the western 11. Any thoughts, comments, or useful info would be helpful. thanks

Actually, Jan and Feb are usually the slow months in this industry. With a combination of slow freight during this time and winter conditions. Makes it a great time for training a newbie. Good Luck and let us know your training experience.

Search around and get info on the railroad industry. A good barometer of the economy. And Warren Buffet just bought Burlington Northern-Santa Fe railroad for 44 billion today. Wonder what he knows.......

warren buffet isn't magic. he lost billions in this depression (violating his own rule of not losing money.) he didn't buy the railroad, berkshire hathaway did (who lost over $100 bil last year.) and there's no guarantee they won't lose their rump on this deal. but at least the current owners will get their $44 bil. how many decades would they have to operate before they got that $44 bil back? never mind making a profit?

but make no mistake, warren ain't no dummy! he's made plenty from all the people who mail him a check every month/year for "insurance," which he then uses to make even more money. what a sweet deal - if only we all owned an insurance company..... or a casino. or better yet, be the government and just demand money from people without giving them anything in return. well, I guess at the end of the day, there isn't much difference between the 3. LOL.
