When I went out with my trainer after I got out of school our first run was to NYC. I'm from Philly and had been up that way plenty of times on my own in a 4 wheeler, no biggie. Once we were in he had me drive making turns, right/left,whatever he called. I did it, and he kept an eye out and on me. Great experience. After that we went down to GA to visit with his mom n dad and then on to deliver a load somewhere in Fl. Didn't give much thought to NYC until I tested off his truck and was given my own. My first run solo was to NYC. Thankfully to the same place I had gone with him so it was a bit familiar but not really. This was back in September of '95. Hate to say been there done that, but yeah. Not only that, it cracks me up when I hear people complain about Philly, it sucks driving here in general, but no worse than most other places. Good luck driver, take what they give you pay attention and you'll be fine.
Is going to the northeast mandatory for an OTR driver?
