Greetings, Yes I am, currently en route to TN. I also reset (34 hour layover) at home almost every week. A west coast run means reset on the road or only total 10 hours a day on lines 3+4 in your log. A compliant log is a necessity at HO. A forward looking company that is planning on growing while complying with CSA2010. Miles vary, but the maximum "legal" miles is somewhere near 3200 for a solo driver in a 62-63 mph truck. When you do the math yourself, work 70 per week. A pre trip and post trip both on line 4 every day leaves 66 or so hours. You fuel on line 4. All this adds up against the 70 hours before a reset. Oh yes and a shipper who is slow to load will affect your driving day by eating up your 14 hour clock and force a 10 hour brake even though your 11 hours of driving time isn't used up. This is just the way things go anywhere. The company is full of helpful folks. Ask all the questions you need to.
Me, I'm happy with my choice. Be Safe, 5wire

Thanks for your response, it was helpful. Sounds like the company emphasizes running things legal which is quite alright with me. I got the impression too that some form of weekly hometime was a good possibility even for the OTR guys. Not the most important thing for me per se, i'm single with no kids so I would do whatever they ask of me as I will request to go OTR when I'm issued my own truck after training. Speaking of, what equipment are the drivers running in, how old or new are they and what's a good guestimate for a new driver to be assigned with? Just curious.

Hail cpfzona73, Legal log and quality pretrip/posttrip inspections both very much encouraged. Late model Freightliners are the standard issue. Mine is an '02 Columbia. The main reason for the mature equipment is run is mileage. The typical driver has a 10 speed manual and a paper log. Some of the trucks have auto transmission and electronic logs on the qualcom. All trucks have qualcom for dispatch and reporting your load progress. I have run OTR since starting with the company last November. Still gets me home regularly. I have only reset on the road twice in 6 months. Gotta run, later, 5

Good deal 5wire, looks like they keep you plenty busy which is a good thing. The economy is starting to pick up which is obviously good news and the word in the trucking world is that freight is too. Question about your runs...you mentioned the west coast-do you go there often? I also hear Flagstaff, AZ and Denver are other areas in the west that are available, can you request these routes or is it just an every-now-and-then sort of thing? Can't wait to leave for Wisconsin, I'm getting ansy just sitting around and waiting...thanks again for answering my 10,000 questions. Just trying to get a feel for things so I have a better idea of what to expect when I show up. Be well, be safe...

Nice company it seems. Thanks 5Wire. TD

In TN for a layover. Ran my 70 out in the last seven days. On to WI once the clock is reset. Do yourself a big favor and spend a lot of time with the paperwork and logs. Then every minute you spend backing the truck into docks and parking places, will pay great dividends later when your on your own. Trip planning for the expected is a whole other subject. I learn something every day. best to you. 5wire.

Thanks for the update 5wire. As it turns out myself and another guy who was supposed to start orientation yesterday got delayed for a day in Milwaukee thanks to Greyhound and their complete indifferent incompetence. Anyway I will definitely pay attention to the details necessary to make the job as fluid as possible. Might see you in Wisconsin if you get there by Friday. Safe travels...

A Friday drop nearby is scheduled, so I may blow through the yard and say hello.

Out on the road now witha trainer, currently headed to Alabama to pick up a load and head to Arizona after that. Lots to learn and driving skills to sharpen before I'm ready but progress is steady as it goes...
