I was under the impression that the Texas oilfield’s were saturated with owner op’s or at least the frac sand hauling side is and that’s why I headed up to North Dakota 4 months ago.I’m already sick up being up here though lol and can’t believe that I was here from 11’-14’ and didn’t mind it back then.My house is just north of San Antonio in a small town called Cibolo. What do you know of for owner op work around there that actually pays?
Is hauling Crude oil a reliable career as an O/O?

Fracing was supposed to be the new thing. But it wasn't. Banks jumped in. Oil nose dived below the $60 needed to survive. Companies went under. Banks lost their shirts. I think oil dropped to $40.
The highways were littered with flatbeds hauling pipe and other equipment. Then the yards became quiet. And you hardly saw anyone hauling anything. And they started hitting the roads for long haul loads.

I don't know much about frac sand arpund those parts but I do know that the Enterprise terminal in Pleasanton has owner-operators, and from what I understand they stay busy with crude and LP.Dadetrucking305 Thanks this. -
I have a friend who lives in the area and is currently hauling crude for Badlands and I’ve pondered getting Hazmat to do the same but something about the flammability of crude scares the crap out of me.RockinChair Thanks this. -
will have a monitor for that. And if you haul LP then H2S is practically a non-issue.lual and Dadetrucking305 Thank this. -
With the new Tesla semi this could very well be a good option. I could be home every night and I could charge the truck at home

Do you mind recommending some companies that I can check out in/around Austin hauling fuel or any of the other commodities in or around the Austin area as an O/O?
-
For fuel try UPT, Texas TransEastern, Coastal Transport, Mission Petroleum, Johnson Oil Co., or Schmidt & Sons.
For lime / cement, call ARA in Kyle, Star Bulk in New Braunfels, R&R in New Braunfels, or you might also be able to get on directly with the plants (Austin White Lime at the north end of Mopac, TXI in Hunter, Texas Lehigh in Buda, Cemex in New Braunfels, Capitol Cement or Alamo Cement in San Antonio). Chemical Lime in New Braunfels won't let you lease on directly, but they could give you the names of the companies they use and maybe you can lease on with one of them. Lime pays a better rate than cement does.
Asphalt: Skinner (STI)
Propane: Direct Propane in Webberville, Longhorn Propane in Canyon Lake, and there's a company that delivers a lot of propane in the Austin area that's based in Marion, I think they're called H&M Services or something like that. The logo on their trailers has a cotton boll on it.
If you want to haul rock, you can try and lease on directly with Texas Crushed Stone or with any of the companies they use: Trucking Companies | Texas Crushed Stone Co.Dadetrucking305, ATXCowboy and Just passing by Thank this.
