I understand, but you need a passenger vehicle to test for P, and I'm not sure you really want to be licensed to haul those loads. Might lead to doing it.

Get the X, that ought to do you for awhile.

No sir. Those are only bulk packages. You only need the endorsement when your containment vessel is permanently attached to the truck.

    I thought it was easy.

Hazmat you have to renew every time you renew your license, which also means getting fingerprinted again every time.

    That's true.:)

Then it must vary by state, because I was given the test to take without question.

You're right though, that is possible.

I was wondering that myself. I counted only five.

Neither are required if you want to haul heavy equipment. Still good to have though regardless.

Pretty much, but it's such an easy test that it's worth getting anyway.

Get as many as you can.

LTL's run pups to save time working freight on the dock. That way they can load freight destined for 2 different terminals on 2 different trailers, and add to it as they move through the system.

No. But coils are nothing to fool with. Extra caution is required.

Since we're at it, might as well add a backing endorsement.

    Incorrect sir. Read the following:

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regu...gs/notices/CDL-Tank-Vehicle-Reg-Guidance.aspx

Clearly stated that IBC totes are included in the requirement for a tanker endorsement.

hey thealfa well i dont know where u got 7 endorsements from but thats not ture at all! Cuz iam looking at the Commercial Drivers Manual now that u get from DMV to study for the test! And its specifys there is only 5 Endorsements that u can get put on a CDL! H for hazardous materials! N for tank! P for a passenger carrying vehicle! S to drive a school bus! T for double or triple trailer! Had the book laying around as i have only been driving for 2 years now! But i tell ya man i love it! I hope god willing and i will be physically able to drive a CMV untill i retire! Its the only job ive ever had that i actually enjoy getting up everyday and going to work! but just wanted clarify the endorsement confusion for you! And na its defenitly not cheaper to take them all at once! But do as u feel best! I do know that hazmat and doubles and triples will come in handy with certain trucking companys! But you could go yo whole trucking career and always drive for companys that dont require hazmat or double or triples or any endorsements for that matter! So its up to you, just listen and take good advice from the guys on here thats been driving for years and years! They know what they talking about ! have a good one and i hope you take to truck driving like i have! Be safe and have a nice day

Ahh, ok. You're right. I forgot all about that.:)

Now that I think about it, a bunch of my co-workers wound up having to get the tank endorsement a couple years back. I didn't pay it any mind because I already had it.

    Thank you for the refresher.
