Is Hazmat worth the trouble? In my opinion: NO.

No one should get the Hazmat.
Everyone should start being legal on the logs. Sitting somewhere 5 hours to get loaded or unloaded? On Duty, buddy. Your company calls you up in the middle of your sleep break to ask you some ######## question? You log on duty and THEN answer it.
These two actions would go a long way towards getting some of the big problems in the industry solved.

 

The homeland nonsense is just about programming the people to accept authoritarian searches and rule. Look at airports. You go in to catch a flight with a 1-liter bottle of water in your hand, get in the security line, and wait your turn at the check. You come up to the machines and the TSA goon tells you you can't take that 1-liter bottle aboard the plane. He gets smart and points to the trash can where you can dump it. You dump it. But....it hits you. Wait. Hold on there, Mr TSA goon. I'm just going to dump this potential bomb in the trash can right there amongst everybody, with nobody calling the bomb squad, the terminal not evacuated. If it's a bomb, it could go off and take everybody out in this area. But nope. It's not about safety, friends.
