    5,000 trucks and 1,000 loads.
Either eat the Deadhead or take one of those on the shortest haul you can to get out.

Or... sit for days waiting on the elusive Golden Nugget.

I wouldn't say he is stupid for posting it, in fact he knew it was cheap and smart for posting how cheap, so he wasn't getting a bunch of needless calls. lol
Now to the trucker that takes the load, now a guy might have a case calling him stupid. lol

Loads like that make everyone sick. Deadheading out of there vs taking this load is possible not only because it verges on the threshold of dignity but also time wasting.
Many, especially megas and even smaller fleets with paid per mile company drivers, will take it hence they post it this low.

Similar thing is with loading out of FL where loads down there pay only $100 - $200 more than what you can get out of GA or TN.
It is a waste of time sitting there instead of going north.

Yep, FL loadboard rates are horrible. If I'm ready to head out, & one of my very few direct customers ain't moving anything at the moment, I'll bounce to GA. That ~200 mile deadhead north almost always pays for itself. I just can't feel good about myself contributing to god awful low rates. For the industries good, & my own sanity I'll bounce before I take some super cheap load..

Calling & asking to come up on a rate around here is exercise in futility. The same old line of, "we're moving them all the time at this rate," is what you'll get. + I can't justify having a possibe cargo claim in the event of an accident against me when I'm working for operating cost. Screw that..

    Its a two way street.

    Trucker to broker:
"Can you come up on the rate?"

I could, but i dont have to.

    Broker to trucker:
"Can you come down on the rate?"

I could but i dont have to.

One cannot negotiate from a position of weakness and dictate the terms to those in a position of strength. In war the aim is to encircle and disarm an opponent in order to fully dictate the terms of peace. Two armed groups at a peace conference will meet in the middle and make concessions. One armed group at a peace conference will tell the other one how its gonna be. Busines isnt much different.

Moral of the story, dont put your truck in a position of weakness with plans of negotiating. Wanna haul a load to west palm beach for spring break? Go ahead, but it'll cost ya.

Not for me in this point of my career. I've limited myself by running a single axle truck. I don't pay heavy use tax either. (No 2290, 54,999 GVW) I can only deck ~28k lbs. On my 4 axle combo I could bridge out at ~73,500lb in FL, or 72k nation wide. That's theoretically 46k lb on deck in FL, maybe 45k lower 47, no CA..

FL seems like they want to load 48k lb & pay $1-1.20 per mile. I could stay local on that, but I think I'd close up shop pretty quickly on those rates.

My guess is they barely speak English, & live 20 to a 2 bedroom apt..? They came from a small island 90miles south of key west..

There are some good rates in FL. Those who have them are not going to let the secret out easily. I've found a few, but not enough to keep me going steadily..

Sometimes the mileage rate will be higher. There is crap moving all the time paying like $300 on 90-120 miles. Yes, that's ~ $3 per mile, yet not worth starting the truck for. $800 is the bottom threshold for me for doing a FL intrastate run. If not, I stay home..

You can leave here with light loads paying well. They just usually are not on a loadboard, or when they are you have to snap them up within 60 seconds. 2 weeks ago I took a brokered 10k lb load out of Ocala. Paid $2.73 to Wilmington, NC.

Peruse the loadboard for FSD freight around Tampa. It tends to suck..
