    That's... Legal. 80k total weight, 12k on the steers and 34k on the drive and trailer tandems each. 12,000 + 34,000 + 34,000 = 80,000lbs

    Which axle was over?

If I had my guess, it was the drive axle. Make it simple and slide them up the first mark on the trailer about 41 feet from the kingpin. You should be 100% legal then, but you'll want to re-weigh.

since the OP made it and delivered ,now the shipper will say," well nobody else has a problem with how we load".

I hear that a lot and don't fall for it.

I can't tell if you're being you usual smart-arse or not. But just FYI- he wasn't referring to possibly wrecking a bridge. Bridge laws refer to axle spacing, etc. They differ by state. Most dry vans rarely need to worry about them, but those with extra axles and Heavy Haul guys run into them a lot. Here's an idea of what I'm talking about- http://www.hendrickson-intl.com/Bridge-Laws

I really wasn't being a smart arse. I have encountered bridges that have posted weight limits, so I assumed that's what the OP was referring to.

It's quite possible that going over the bridge would've done nothing. But I wanted to make a point of the fact that unless you know that bridge can support you then you shouldn't cross it. Yeah, you can call the county or city and ask if you want to be sure.

My assumption could've been wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong in my life.

...if I am wrong, this would make twice in my lifetime.

Thanks for the link though, I had wondered how that was computed!

I would rather wait for the laws to be filed on bridges so I can drive over them, effortlessly..

But if you wait, would that have an affect on your weight?

Or maybe your weight would affect the wait...

I always lock my trailer brakes and drag them over the bridge. That way if I get lost I know by the 4 skid marks where I've been!

I guess tire skid marks, are better then unda-wear skid marks, you got me there.

I wait for no weight, as I waited one time to be weighed and I lost some wait time at yet another waiting place.

    Vilhiem and Mudguppy Thank this.

Just the other day at the local CAT scale, there was a backup from some #### rookie. couldn't answer "First weigh or re-weigh"! So I had a 15 minute wait at the weighting station!

Glad to help. I've been in HH/ OSOW for the past 5 or so years, so I knew what he was referring to....
