    All due respect....

If you even have to ask that question you need to go get some experience. I only bothered to post here to try and help you keep some of your money.

    Good luck!

G3 how do you learn if you don't ask brother. I'm a very hard working guy with a dream. I'm tired of working for other people living from pay check to pay check. I want a good life for my family. I started this thread for the knowledge. I'm gonna take everything you experienced gentlemen are telling me and absorb it so when I'm ready to make that move in a couple of years I listened and took the advice from the best in the business. A wise man learns from other wise men.

Falcone, you need to provide us with more info. How much is the total per mile worth and what % are you gonna get? Without this info, its impossible to say whether $1.50/mile is better then getting %. You are gonna need an average rate per mile for % as every load is different. Ask to see some O/O statements with the name blocked out who are on % n if they say no then I would walk, they are hiding something. Its pretty simple, just go in there, stand yer ground n you will know exactly what to do from there.

Guys it's actually 1.50 per mile after his fee. Or I can take a 80/20 split. He says his loads average 1.50-2.00 per mile. He will dispatch my trucks, provide a safety department that does pre-hire screening (background, drug test, etc.) Post accident testing, accounting, weekly settlements, weekly finance reports, quarterly tax filings, trailer rental, fuel cards, trip planning. Does this sound like a good deal?

Yes, if you are running under his authority and cargo, liability insurance. There are other company's out there to lease onto that pay that and more.
