Is it common for Trucking to cause tinnitus?

The full ear muffs are better. They cover the bones around the ear.
Allowing your health to decline will bring it on more.

 

I've had tinnitus probably since birth. I also worked around airplanes for a while. Therefore, I wear ear plugs almost 24/7 around the truck, including while sleeping. I don't intend to lose any more hearing. I love to hear myself talk too much.

 

The typical new modern trucks are JUST below the OSHA standards that would require employees to use hearing protection. The OSHA noise standard anticipates an employee being in that noise environment ONLY 8 hours per day. You will lose significant hearing if you don't protect yourself. Just because new trucks are much much quieter than older trucks doesn't mean they are not damaging your hearing.

Joe can be a bigger thief than Bob, that doesn't mean Bob is honest. Drivers are in the noise environment 12 - 24 hours a day for years, sometimes decades.

What are acoustic ear plugs? Are those the custom molded silicone or active noise-cancelling?
