If a truck is left in a company terminal, but not the driver's home terminal, is it still abandonment? Both terminals are the same company, but my buddy needs to leave the truck at a terminal that is not his home base terminal. I just got this question from a buddy of mine who has driven for this company for 7 years, but just got a great offer from another company. He asked me to post this question because he has no computer skills.

Depends if he is under load, and if he turned the truck into terminal management. Some companies dont care, some want it brought back to the home terminal

Why dont you ask what the policy is? We dont know who you, I mean your buddy is running with. So ask the policy.

If you, dangit! I mean your buddy has been there for 7 years, why not go about it the right way?

Ask yourself, I mean your buddy, where the company wants the truck returned. It's really not complicated.

Too make this more simple... tell them you have found another job and just need to know where to return the truck. Easy. Or you can take the path of least resistance and return the truck to a place that suits you and run with your panties between your legs and cry to everyone when you seemingly got screwed.

A simple phone call to dispatch will answer this question. Don't burn the bridge, you may need to walk across it again someday.

Yep, 7 years. He needs to man the hell up and walk into the terminal managers office and be honest. Who knows, they might counter with a better deal. If not, what should he care of the hit him with abandoned load? He already has the other job.
